Our estate is situated in Port Owen, which lies between the towns of Velddrif and Laaiplek where the beautiful Berg River flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

On our coast, the Atlantic Ocean forms the magnificent St. Helena Bay that stretches all the way from Shelley Point to Elands Bay.

This means that we have access to a very calm sea most of the year which gives us the best sailing conditions in South Africa.

Because of the calm sea conditions all kinds of other water sports are possible most of the year.

Wintertime is “snoek time” on the West Coast and both the catching and the eating is a favourite pastime here.

Apart from the sea, we have direct access to the Berg River with its magnificent birdlife.

The river is navigable by boat for almost 40 km and sightings of the African Fish Eagle are quite common.

Apart from birding, the river is a favourable ground for a lot of other water sports such as fishing, rowing, canoeing and believe it or not, swimming.

Although the seawater on the West Coast is generally cold, our river easily passes the 20 degrees Celcius mark during summer, especially further upstream.
